In geometry, the conic constant (or Schwarzschild constant, after Karl Schwarzschild) is a quantity describing conic sections, and is represented by the letter constant is given by = −, where e is the eccentricity of the conic section.
The equation for a conic section with apex at the origin and tangent to the y axis is − + (+) = where R is the radius of curvature at x = 0. J.E.

This book covers both the mathematics of inverse problems and optical systems design, and includes a review of the mathematical methods and Fourier optics.
The first part of the book deals with the mathematical tools in detail with minimal assumption about prior knowledge on the part of the reader. Here we present an alternative inverse-design method to design an ultra-compact multimode waveguide bend.
The convergence and performance of the algorithm are studied, along with a transform method that allows to design devices made of two materials by: 1. Optical lens design is the process of designing a lens to meet a set of performance requirements and constraints, including cost and manufacturing limitations.
Parameters include surface profile types (spherical, aspheric, holographic, diffractive, etc.), as well as radius of curvature, distance to the next surface, material type and optionally tilt and decenter. In this paper, we propose a new method to design a phase coded lens, using a blur metric (BM) as the design criterion. Matlab and Zemax are used for the co-optimization of optical coding and digital image process.
The purpose of the design is to find a curve for which the BM changes continuously and seriously within a distance range. The texture feature of iris provides a signature that is unique for each subject.
Currently most commercial iris recognition systems acquire images in less than 50 cm, which is a serious constraint that needs to be broken if we want to use it for airport access or entrance that requires high turn-over rate.
